Arroyo Grande swimming junior Trent Schachter competed at the 2015 Winter Junior Nationals last weekend in Austin, Texas.
Schachter first swam his primary event, the 100 yard butterfly. He posted a time of 50.98 and placed 67th. His previous best was his school record 52.21 from the Pac-8 championships last season.
He also swam a time trial 200 yard freestyle, in which he put up a time of 1:44.22, a drop of about three seconds.
The day after the meet concluded, a special one day long course meters meet was held for those who had competed in Junior Nationals. Schachter went a 58.55 in the 100 meter butterfly and 55.13 in the 100 meter freestyle, a drop of about one second.
Junior Nationals is one of the most prestigious meets in the country, and showcases the premier 18 and under talent in the nation.
